The journey of Sardar Bhagwan Singh University is rooted in the distinguished legacy of the Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences & Research (SBSPGI), established in 1994 at Balawala, Dehradun. Over nearly twenty-five years, SBSPGI earned a reputation as one of Northern India's leading institutions in Biomedical Sciences, recognized for academic excellence, professional education, and research.

Founded by the visionary educationist Late Sardar Gurcharan Singh Ji, the institute was established with the mission of expanding access to quality higher education and creating opportunities for young learners to excel in professional careers. Supported by dedicated faculty, motivated students, and modern infrastructure, SBSPGI laid a strong foundation of academic achievement and institutional credibility.

Three Decades of Excellence Sardar Bhagwan Singh University (2018–Present)

Established under the Sardar Bhagwan Singh University Act, 2018 (Uttarakhand Act No. 12 of 2018) and formally notified on August 3, 2018, Sardar Bhagwan Singh University (SBSU) builds upon more than three decades of educational excellence and service.

While retaining its strengths in health and life sciences, the University has evolved into a multidisciplinary institution offering programmes across Allied Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agriculture, Basic and Applied Sciences, Management and Commerce, Computer Applications & Information Technology, and other emerging disciplines.

Guided by the principles of academic excellence, innovation, research, and employability, SBSU provides a learner-centric environment supported by experienced faculty, modern infrastructure, industry engagement, and experiential learning opportunities. The University is committed to nurturing competent professionals, responsible citizens, and future leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to society and national development.

Our Mandate

Promoted by Gaurav Bharti Shiksha Sansthan, established in 1994, SBSU was founded with the vision of providing quality professional education while upholding the values of inclusivity, service, and social responsibility. Although initially conceived to serve the educational aspirations of the Sikh minority community, the institution has always welcomed students from all backgrounds.

The University's mandate is to provide accessible, high-quality education, advance research and innovation, foster entrepreneurship and skill development, and emerge as a centre of excellence in higher education through a vibrant academic ecosystem and state-of-the-art facilities.
