The University supports various societies with primary aim to direct dynamism of students in constructive directions to produce a total integrated personality through assimilation of the culture, literature, art, music, dance arena and sports activities, photographic acumen, in addition to community services. The University societies offer diversified range of extracurricular activities, meeting a variety of student interest. Each Club/Society is constituted by a Convener, a Treasurer, a Student Secretary and student members.
The creative art society enables the students to colour their imaginations and create miracles on innovative canvas. The society organizes creative extravaganza for the students and provide opportunity to express their colourful designs in traditional or unconventional art and painting shows organized in the campus. Sapt Rang is the main festivity of this Society organized during SBS Utsav. Sapt Rang encompasses variety of creative and art events for the students. The creative activities add novel dimensions to abilities of the students and develop different perspective to visualize and present things.
The cultural activities have always been recognized as elementary need for complete development of human beings. The culture refers the integral pattern of human knowledge, belief and behavior that depends upon capacity for thought and social learning, and therefore, activities that pertain to culture are referred as cultural activities. The Cultural and Music Society of University has mandate to inculcate the awareness for their overall development. The students are encouraged to organize as well as participate in cultural events at university / national level. By this, the society assists in development of their coordination and management skills, along with their creative abilities. The SBS Utsav and the Annual Day are the prime events of the society, and it also invites artiste of International and National repute in the campus to introduce the cultural heritage to the students. It also conducts Inter House cultural competitions round the year.
The Debating society of University put thrust upon development of literary acumen and sharpening the communication skill of students. The society provides a platform to the growing minds to demonstrate their competitive skill, knowledge, professionalism and excellence to present their view on current perspective of national and global issues. The society also motivates students to develop their communication skills and present their views on certain issues, which is essentially important in professional training. Interdepartmental quiz and preparing Institute team for debate competitions at university / national level is also undertaken by Debating society.
The explanation of expressions presented on stage, and message incepted in the society. The influence of drama upon development of thought and society has always been recognized. The Dramatics society of University organizes enables students to utilize their creative and expressive abilities for presentation of scripts effectively on stage. The dramatic activities help in developing the coordination, expression and team building skills among students. The society plans to present one full length play and one short play in every academic year.
Nature is suppose to be the best teacher for an enlighten disciple. The main objective of Nature Club is to link the students with beauty and benefits of nature. The club is devoted to create awareness and knowledge of different varieties of ornamental flowers, along with other useful flora. The club utilizes the beautiful landscape of University spread in acres, to decorate it with colours of flowers, and greens of trees. Flower shows, better known as Hemant Sringar and Basant Bahar are two major shows organized by the students of this society.
Collection of stamps and coins has always been considered as a royal hobby for many. And for others, it has been a method to learn the habit of preservation. The Philately Club supports and encourages the hobby of students to collect rare coins and stamps. These activities allow the student to get aware of facts associated with rare token, and world around it. The club regularly invites various collectors in workshops it organizes in campus. The major event of this club is Kinghplex that showcase the precious and rare collections prepared by students.
Photography is an art to conserve moments, and present pictures with different perspectives. The Photography club of University encourages the shutter bugs in University to explore their creative perceptions with camera. The students learn various photographic techniques and other dimensions of this art by participating in photographic event. The spectrum of pictures captured by members of this club during various events in campus is also published in University publications. The club plans to organize an exhibition to display the photographic excellence of students.
"The pen is mightier than sword", is believed by all, and practiced by Publication and Creative Writing Society. The society is responsible for creative writing activities including essays, poetry, flash friction writing to encourage the literally talent of students and promote innovative thinking abilities. These activities assist the mental attitude and bringing out new ideas and ideologies. This society is also responsible for bringing out two major publications of University – annual magazine Endeavour and quarterly news letter – SBS Times. These are extremely important components in campus as it keeps everyone informed about the happenings at the University, and also provide a platform to express their views.
If healthy mind rest in healthy body, the Sports and Athletic Club of Institute ensures it for students in campus. It plans and organizes various sports and athletic events round the year. This society takes advantage of excellent sports infrastructure available in the University, in addition to sports complex for its activities. The students are encouraged to represent their houses in various track and field events and also sports events like cricket, football, baseball, basketball, table tennis, badminton, hockey and chess etc. In addition to round the year sports activities, and marathon race during SBS Utsav, the Club organize Annual Athletic meet as its major activity. It also supports participation of University team in various competitions at University/ National level.
