Applied Chemistry and Basic Sciences

The Department has a strong faculty base specialized in various fields of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Chemistry from reputed Universities/Institutes like BHU, Rajasthan, Jammu, IIM, HNBGU, FRI etc. All faculty members are doctorate in specialised branches like Organic, Analytical, Inorganic, Physical & Pharmaceutical Chemistry with majority having NET/GATE qualification. The faculty is actively engaged in research & outcome of this research is visible in the form of publications in International & National Journals of high impact factor. They are continuously enriching themselves professionally by attending workshops, symposia refresher courses and conferences at National and International levels. Faculty members & students have won the Young Scientist Awards at Uttarakhand Science Congress, and other conferences. The Faculty is also acting as resource person in various workshops & symposium.

Dr Neetu Pandey, MSc, PhD

More than 18 years of teaching and research experience, She has guided one Ph. D student (Thesis Submitted). She published more than 16 research/review article in peer review journals. She has published threebook chapters in a reputed publisher. She received UCOST young scientist award in 2012. Conferred ‘young women excellence in research award’ in 7thannual ICMRPI 2023. She has supervised more than 29 PG student and 20 UG students.She is the member of different University committee and board of studies. She is also invited many times as a resource person in various conferences and seminars. Her area of expertise is related to organic mainly carbohydrate chemistry.

Dr. Niki Nautiyal,, M.Sc. (Biotechnology), Ph.D. (Genetics and Plant Breeding)

Dr. Niki has done her M.Sc. in Biotechnology and Ph.D in Genetics and Plant breeding from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar (Uttarakhand). She has more than 8 years of teaching and research experience. Qualified ICAR NET conducted by Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board in the year 2014. She was recipient of University scholarship during her Doctorate Program. She has supervised 18 Post-graduate/Graduate theses. Her publications include 10 Research Papers, 8 popular articles in National and International Journals of repute, 5 book chapters published with Springer Nature/Taylor & Francis and has authored 1 book and 1 Edited book. Dr. Niki has been awarded the prestigious “Shikshak Shiromani Award” in year 2023 and “Young Women Scientist Achievement Award” by Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of Uttarakhand in 2023 in Women Scientist Conclave 2023-2024. Her area of specialization is related to Plant breeding and Plant biotechnology.

Ms. Nisha Joshi, M.Sc. (Mathematics) & B.Ed.

Mrs. Nisha Joshi has received her M. Sc. Mathematics and B. Ed. From HNB Garhwal University, with six years of teaching experience. She is teaching mathematics to under graduate students since last five years. She also deals with subject like statistics.

Dr. Anjana Bansal M. Sc., Ph.D.(Chemistry)

Dr. Anjana Bansal has completed M.Sc. In Organic Chemistry from Meerut University Uttar Pradesh and Ph.D from Forest Research Institute (Deemed University) Dehradun Uttarakhand. Her area of expertise is related to organic mainly Carbohydrate chemistry. She have done DBT Funded project on Biopesticides.

Dr. Rajbeer Singh, M. Sc. (Zoology) Ph. D

Dr. Rajbeer Singh has completed M.Sc. In Zoology from D.B.S PG College Dehradun and Ph.D from HNB Garhwal University. His specialisation is in Environmental biology and Freshwater Diatoms. He has published dour papers and 4 papers are communicated.

Mrs. Vaishali, M. Sc. (Botany) B. Ed

Vaishali has completed B.Sc. from KLDAV PG College, Roorkee and M.Sc. from KLDAV PG College, Roorkee. Her specialization is in Botany. She has completed B.Ed. from very reputed university. She has three years of teaching experience and also worked in the project as JPF entitled "Preparation of PBRs and Training of Biodiversity Management Committees" in WII Dehradun. She has two chapters published. She has also two posters presented in the conference.

Ms. Vidhi Tiwari, M. A (Mathematics)

Ms. Vidhi Tiwari has completed her B. A from MKPPG College, Dehradun and M. A. From DAVPG College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Her specialization is in Mathematics. She is teaching mathematics and deals with statistics subjects also to the under graduate students. She has 1 year teaching experience.

Mr. Pradyumna Ghosal,B.Sc(Chemistry), M. Sc. (Pharmaceutical Chemistry)

Mr. Ghosal has over 3 years of Teaching, Research, and Industry experience in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He is member of Training and Placement Cell of the university. He has graduated Chemistry Hons. From Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assamand post-graduated from HNB Garhwal (A Central University) Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He has published 01 patents, 03 research/review articlesand presented04 papers at different conferences/workshops.He has 03 book chapters to his credit. He has Co-guided 02 M.Sc. Pharm. Chemistry students. He has achieved the Gold medal (2020-23) and ranked First on the HNB Garhwal (A Central University) Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand also Anundoram Borooah Award 2014 from Education (Secondary) Department Government of Assam, India.

Mr. Mukul Chakraverti, M. Sc. (Chemistry), CSIR- NET

Mr. Chakraverti has completed his bachelors B.Sc.(PCM) from Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar and M.Sc.Chemistry from SBS University , Balawala Dehradun. He has qualified CSIR NET June 2022 exam and has one year teaching experience in coaching centre. His specialisation is in Organic Chemistry.

Ms. Garima Singh, M. Sc. (Zoology), M. Phil. (Avian-Chronobiology), Ph. D. (Ornithology-Avian acoustics)

Ms. Garima Singh completed her M. Phil. in 2017, specialization with chronobiology entitled “Circadian rhythm in passerine finches’’ to study the locomotory behaviour in terms of migration in different photoperiod of Emberiza bruniceps, Lunchura malacca malacca, Ploceous philippines. Her area of expertise in her Ph. D. is Ornithology, Chronobiology, Zoo semiotics, Ethology, Avian-Acoustics and Behavioural Ecology. She has 10 Research Articles, 04 book chapter with reputed publishers. She has worked as JRF in Drug Standardization Research Institute, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi (20 8-2019). She completed a SERB funded project from Zoological Survey of India, Dehradun entitled “Microstructure, individual and sub-species variation in Indian Robin (Cosychus fulicatus L.) in association of Ph. D. (Since 2019). She has also experienced of collection of acoustical evidences with territorial aspects of 04 sub-species of Indian robin from Himalayan foothills (Northern population), Tamilnadu (Southern population), West Bengal (Eastern population), Maharashtra (Central population) and also hands on training of Animal Handling and Dosing in Pathology Laboratory, LLRM Medical College Campus, Meerut. Her learned skillis in Avisoft SAS-Lab Pro, Q- GIS, Raven-Pro, SPSS 16.0, Google-Earth Pro. She has delivered 09 invited/oral talks and awarded Best Oral Presentation and attended several International conference and training programs, one of them is “Regional training on Lab-based quality control for Traditional/ Herbal products for the WHO South East Asia Region organized by WHO SEARO, Pharmacopeia Commission, Gov. of India. She is life member of “Ethological society of India” and “Association of Avian biologist in India”.

Dr. Madhulika Esther Prasad M.Sc. (Biology),Ph.D. (Biotechnology)

Dr. Madhulika Esther Prasad did her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Graphic Era deemed to be University, Dehradun, with a Canadian research work experience of six years prior to Ph.D. Her Ph.D. was entitled as “Characterization of Nutritional & Genetic Diversity in Millets of Uttarakhand”, and she received a DST Women Scientist-A position with a research grant of 23 Lakhs from the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, as Principal Investigator (PI). She was one of the five scientists in the state of Uttarakhand who received this grant in the year of 2018-19. She completed her Research-based Masters from Dalhousie University, Canada, with a prestigious NSERC fellowship. Her Ph.D. and DST research include work on the internationally acclaimed millet grain. She has characterized the biodiversity of millets growing in the high-altitude regions of Uttarakhand to identify cultivars with higher levels of protein, fat, minerals and amylose, the latter being extremely beneficial to patients suffering from type 2 diabetes, which is of high importance. This research has also won her two awards as Best Woman Researcher (2021), and Young Researcher (2020) in national and international conferences. Her previous research work has also identified the role of XBAT32, a novel E3 ligase, in the ethylene biosynthesis pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana. Likewise, her work in E.Coli identified the essential role of a novel C-terminal region in the CesT chaperone protein for bacterial toxin secretion. Part of her work is published in high-impact journals such as Plant Physiology (Impact factor-6.8), Journal of Bacteriology (Impact factor-5.4) and Plant Signalling & Behaviour (Impact factor-2.2). She has published more than 15 research papers, and presented talks at international conferences,
