Exams About the Examination Department
The Examination Department of Sardar Bhagwan Singh University is headed by the Controller of Examination. It is the central authority responsible for maintaining the academic integrity of the University through seamless, fair and transparent assessment. Being the backbone of the University, its entire work is governed by different provisions of SBS University, Uttarakhand Act 12 of 2018 Ordinances, Rules and Regulation made therein by the Authorities of the University.
It manages entire process of enrolment, maintenance of confidentiality of question paper, conduction of all end semester, annual examination and entrance examination of the University and follows fair and transparent evaluation system. The department’s prime responsibility is issuance of Grade Card, Marksheet and Conferring Degrees, Diplomas and Certificate to persons who fulfil the requisite qualifications/conditions.
Core Functions and Responsibilities
- Examination Registration – Processing examination forms, issuing enrolment, roll numbers and admit cards.
- The examination academic calendar – Preparing and declaring the examination scheduled well in advance.
- Question Paper Management – Organise question paper setting, moderation and secure printing.
- Logistics Arrangement – Managing securely the preparation, distribution and storage of question paper and material related to examination.
- Smooth examination conduction – Preparing seating arrangement, appointing Invigilators, Flying Squad, Centre Superintendent and Asstt. Centre Superintendent.
- Mal practices management – Dealing with unfair means cases.
- Evaluation – Adopting centralised evaluation of answer scripts.
- Results – Processing and declaration.
- Documents – Printing and issuance of grade cards, marksheets, final degree, diploma and certificates.
Examination policy
- The Examination Department conducts various end semester and annual examinations of both theory & practical.
- The examinations of various courses run by the University are conducted according to the syllabi approved by the Board of Studies. Each course carries credits as per the approved scheme of courses.
- The students fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the course, as well as procedural requirements are allowed to appear in the examination after obtaining valid admit cards from the Examination Department.
- It is mandatory for the students to meet 80% class attendance requirement for appearing in sessional, mid semester and end semester examinations. Odd & even semester examinations are held in December – January & May – June respectively after 90/100 days of study in each semester.
- The examination forms have to be filled by all the students for every semester in the month of October for odd semester & March even semester and the enrolment form only for the first semester students. The back paper examination forms have to be filled separately for the students having back papers. The students with back papers in even semester shall get two opportunities to clear them for promotion and in odd semester, a total of three chances. The examination forms shall be accepted only after payment of the prescribed fee. In PCI approved courses there is a provision of improvement sessional examination after declaration of main examination results. In Allied Health Sciences the improvement in minors can be availed after approval of the competent authority.
- The student by no means shall indulge in disorderly conduct in connection with examinations or use unfair means. The cases of the Unfair Means shall be referred to the Unfair Means Committee, constituted by the Registrar. The Committee shall carry out the necessary investigation and enquire into the matter and submit a detailed report to the Registrar along with the recommended punishment.
- Final results of all classes in terms of marks & grades are declared by the office of Controller of Examinations.
