Prof. (Dr.) J.Kumar, M.Sc (Agri-Plant Pathology), Ph.D.

Vice Chancellor

Dr. J. Kumar is an accomplished academic with an impressive educational background. He obtained his M.Sc. Agri. and Ph.D. degrees from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar, between 1975 and 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar held various positions, including Professor & Head of the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Dean of the College of Agriculture, GBPUAT, Vice-Chancellor of GBPUAT, Pantnagar, and Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun. Dr. Kumar has also served as a Post-doctoral Fellow & Project Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute, Philippines, from 1993 to 1996 and as a Visiting Scientist at various institutions, including the International Rice Research Institute, Philippines, in 1997, 1998, 2001, and 2002; Cornell University, USA, in 1999 and 2000; and INRA, France, in 2004. Dr. Kumar has been involved in 21 national and international competitive research projects, including multi-institutional and multi-faculty projects funded by national and international agencies. Dr. Kumar has published ten patents based on his research. Dr. Kumar has received numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions to the field of agriculture. Some of his notable awards include the Prof. M. J. Narasimhan Academic Merit Award (1985), Jawahar Lal Nehru Award (1986), Pesticide India Award (1987), Uttarakhand Ratan Award (2007), Plant Pathology Leadership Award of Indian Phytopathological Society (2012), K.C.Mehta and Manoranjan Mitra Award of Indian Phytopathological Society (2015), Dr.T.S.Thind Life-Time Achievement Award of Indian Society of Plant Pathologists (ISPP) (2019), Life-Time Recognition Award of Confederation of Horticulture Associations of India (2020), and Uttarakhand Ratan Shri Award (2022). Dr Kumar is a Rockefeller Foundation (USA) Biotechnology Career Fellow (1998), Fellow of the National Academy of Agriculture Academy (NAAS) (2015), Fellow of the Confederation of Horticulture Associations of India (CHAI) (2019), and a Trustee of the Asian Agri-History Foundation. He has published over 120 refereed research papers/reviews in international/national journals, besides many book chapters, and proceeding articles. Dr. Kumar co-edited a four-volume publication titled "Plant Diseases of International Importance,” which was published by Prentice Hall, New Jersey, USA. He has also guided 25 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, several of whom have received awards.

Prof. A.K. Sharma, B. Pharm (Hons), M. Pharm, Ph.D

Professor Sharma possesses more than 45 years of professional experience including, teaching, research and academic administration in India as well as Universities abroad. He graduated in Pharmacy from prestigious Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani in 1970 with gold medal followed by M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) from Panjab University and Doctorate from Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi. Prof Sharma opted for academics as career by joining Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi as founder faculty of the present day Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology and served it in various capacities, last being Professor & Head and Dean of Students Welfare. While serving B.I.T., he was deputed to Nigeria as expert for the establishment of Central Testing Laboratory, River State Government, Port Harcourt. He has also acted as Honorary Consultant for improvement of pharmaceutical services at B.M. Birla Memorial Heart Research Centre and Calcutta Medical Research Institute, Calcutta.

After serving B.I.T. for more than 23 years, Prof Sharma joined University of Asmara, Eritrea as the founder faculty and Associate Dean of College of Health Sciences and worked for more than 12 years. He was nominated on the expert panel for formulation of National Drugs List. Ministry of Health, government of Eritrea. He was also invited to Chair the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Khartoum, Sudan on sabbatical. Prof Sharma has also worked as Director, Institute of Pharmacy & Emerging Sciences, Baddi University of Emerging Sciences & Technology, Baddi and Director, Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences & Research, Dehradun.

Prof Sharma had been elected as a member, National Cultural Committee of Association of Indian Universities and also nominated on a high power committee of Ministry of Health and F.W. on Quality control of Drugs & Pharmaceuticals. He has supervised 9 doctoral and large number of post graduate theses. He has been on Expert Panel and Board of Studies of universities in India and overseas. Prof Sharma has about 50 research publications and two books to his credit.

Dr. Luvkush

Dr. Luvkush, a distinguished academic, and researcher, holds a postgraduate degree in Organic Chemistry from Lucknow University (1959) and a Ph.D. in Phytochemistry (1967). He further advanced his expertise with an MS in Medicinal Chemistry and Basic Clinical Sciences from the School of Pharmacy, University of the Pacific, California, USA. Dr. Luvkush completed his Clinical Technologist Training at Los Robles Hospital, California, USA in 1976 and obtained Instructor Credentials from California Community Colleges, USA in 1980.

With over four decades of academic and research experience, Dr. Luvkush has guided more than 20 students in their M.Sc. thesis work. He has published 50 articles in various national and international journals of repute.

Dr. Jyoti Bansal, Quality/Strategy Professional

Dr. Jyoti Bansal is an expert in quality assurance, compliance, and academic strategy and leads ‘Oneabove Concepts and Services Pvt. Ltd. Previously, she held key positions including Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Quality Assurance & Accreditation at Rice Group (Adamas University & Adamas Tech Consulting) in West Bengal; Associate Director of Quality Assurance & Institutional Strategy at the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Joint Registrar at O.P. Jindal Global University, and Assistant Professor at Amity University. Her experience also includes roles as a Project Officer for the Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010 and Quality Assurance Manager at Contech Devices. Dr. Bansal holds an honorary Ph.D. in Education from Cambridge International Open & Online University, an MPhil in Quality Management from BITS Pilani, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from AIMA, and degrees in Microbiology from Sardar Bhagwan Singh University and Delhi University. She is certified in executive leadership, project management, and as an ISO auditor. Her professional associations include the Quality Council of India and the Association of Microbiologists of India. Dr. Bansal has achieved significant milestones such as leading accreditation and ranking efforts at various institutions, and managing doping control for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.At SBSU, Dr. Bansal is a member of the Internal Quality Assurance Centre (IQAC).

Dr. Mrigendra Kumar Singh, Ombudsperson

Dr.Mrigendra Kumar Singh holds a B.A. from Lucknow University (1976), an M.A. from Allahabad University (1980), and a Ph.D. from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University (1992). With extensive teaching experience, Dr Singh served as an Assistant Professor (Ad hoc) from 1988 to 1991, Assistant Professor (Regular) from 1991 to 2000, Associate Professor from 2000 to 2008, and Professor from 2008 to 2023 at H.N.B.Garhwal University, Srinagar. In addition to teaching, Dr Singh has held several official roles at H.N.B.Garhwal University, including Head of the Department of Philosophy (2021-2023), Assistant Proctor (5 years), Proctor (1 month), Assistant Dean of Student Welfare (3 years), Assistant Controller of Examinations (4 years), Assistant Superintendent of Examinations (2 years), Hostel Warden (8 years), Programme Officer for the National Service Scheme (3 years), and Sports Incharge for badminton, volleyball, and cricket (3 years).

Dr. Vishu Dutt, BioMedical Scientist

Dr. Vishnu Dutt is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in clinical diagnostics and laboratory management. Currently serving as the CEO of Lifenity International, London, U.K. since January 2023, Dr Dutt has been instrumental in setting up clinical diagnostics laboratories, managing lab finances, leading quality management systems, and ensuring compliance with H&S and UKAS guidelines. Previously, as the Co-Founder and Laboratory Director of Diagnostics 360, London (Feb 2021 - Dec 2022), Dr Duttsuccessfully established and managed labs, led proficiency testing programs, and implemented Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) like Crelio Health.From Nov 2011 to Jan 2021, Dr Dutt worked as a Biomedical Scientist and Night Shift Supervisor at Health Service Lab, London and before that, Dr Duttwas a Biomedical Analyst at The Doctors Laboratory, London (Apr 2010 - Aug 2011).

Dr.Dutt began his career as a Trainee Biomedical Scientist at Fortis International Hospital in Punjab, India, eventually being promoted to Biomedical Scientist at Ranbaxy Laboratories within the same hospital (Mar 2007 - Jul 2008). He has a strong academic background with a Master’s in Biotechnology from the University of Bedfordshire, U.K., and a Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Technology from Sardar Bhagwan Singh University, Dehradun, India. Dr. Vishnu Dutt is skilled in lab finances, documentation, IT systems, team leadership, and maintaining quality control and assurance programs.

Dr. Vibha Bhardwaj, Ph.D., Postdoc (Italy), Postdoc (Argentina), Postdoc (Boston),PMP, CQM

Dr. Vibha Bhardwaj is currently the Director of Environment for the Government of the United Arab Emirates, with over 19 years of experience. She holds three postdoctoral degrees, including the Arthuro Falaschi Fellowship from Italy, the SMART Postdoctoral Fellowship in Industrial Biotechnology and Molecular Biology from ICGEB, Italy, and a fellowship from Boston University, USA. She earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Kurukshetra University, India.

Dr. Bhardwaj has co-authored several books, such as "Applications of Fungal Biotechnology in Agriculture and Forestry," "The Miracles of Microbes in Human Life," and "Fungal Diversity and Biotechnology," and has published 60 research papers in international journals. She has also contributed chapters to books on microbial ecology, environmental biotechnology, climate change, and biodiversity.

Her work has been widely recognized, earning her 22 awards, including the Women Leader Award in Leadership by the Women Leader Forum (UK/India) and the International Outstanding Scientist Award in Engineering Science and Medicine by INSO, USA. She is an active member of various international scientific and environmental committees and has presented her research at numerous conferences worldwide.

Dr. Bhardwaj has supervised 12 Ph.D. students, 8 master's students, and 26 graduate students, and she has completed 36 major government projects in areas such as environment, molecular biology, microbiology, toxicology, and nutraceuticals. Her research interests include the impact of pesticides and industrial chemicals on the marine environment, enzymology, microbiology, mycology, and biofuel production.

Dr. T.N. Lakhanpal, Renowned Mycologist and Academic Leader

Emeritus Professor

Dr. T.N. Lakhanpal is celebrated for his pioneering contributions to mycology. He earned his B.Sc. Hons and M.Sc. Hons in Botany from Panjab University, Chandigarh, securing top honors and receiving prestigious awards including a Gold Medal. His doctoral research at the University of Delhi under Prof. K.G. Mukerji focused on "Taxa-ecological and Experimental Studies on Myxomycetes," pioneering cultivation methods and life cycle studies. This work laid the groundwork for a seminal monograph on Indian Myxomycetes published in 1982.

Dr. Lakhanpal's academic journey includes distinguished roles at H.P. University, Shimla, where he served as Professor Emeritus, Director of the Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies, and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences. He held various administrative positions such as Chairman of the Department of Bio-Sciences and Dean of Student Welfare. His teaching career spans prestigious institutions like Hans Raj College, Delhi University, and Mizoram University.

A stalwart in mycological research, Dr. Lakhanpal has significantly advanced the understanding of fungal biodiversity, particularly in the Himalayas. His collaborations and research projects, supported by national and international grants, have resulted in numerous publications, including over 190 research papers and several monographs. He has authored and edited multiple books on fungal biodiversity and medicinal plants, contributing extensively to the field's literature.

Dr. Lakhanpal's contributions extend beyond academia. He has served as President of the Mycological Society of India, chaired the PAC of the National Mushroom Research Centre, and advised on various scientific committees. Recognized with prestigious awards such as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mycological Society of India and the Sarswati Award from the University of Delhi, Dr. Lakhanpal's legacy in mycology continues to inspire and educate generations of researchers worldwide.

His global influence is underscored by visits to the U.S.A., Japan, England, and Thailand, fostering international collaborations in fungal research and biodiversity conservation.

Dr. Ravi K. Khetarpal, Executive Secretary, APAARI

Dr. Ravi Khetarpal, Executive Secretary of Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI) since 2017 in Bangkok, leads regional initiatives and oversees projects supported by FAO, EU, WTO, ACIAR, COA, and USDA. He focuses on advancing knowledge management, agricultural innovation systems, science and technology indicators, phytosanitary compliance, and pesticide risk reduction across Asia-Pacific.

He also chairs the Tropical Agricultural Platform (TAP) and the Global Forum of Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR) at FAO. Previously, Dr. Khetarpal served as Regional Director and Advisor for CABI – South Asia, with over three decades dedicated to India's National Agricultural System, specializing in plant protection.

Dr. Khetarpal holds a PhD in Life Sciences (Plant Pathology) from the University of Paris and has conducted research at INRA, France. His expertise includes research, policy development, and capacity building in plant protection, biosecurity, seed certification, and biodiversity conservation.

He has led twelve FAO/World Bank/USDA projects and represented Asia in the STDF Working Group at WTO. Dr. Khetarpal has authored 110 research papers, 18 books, and numerous book chapters and policy papers, including co-editing a notable publication on Plant Virus Disease Control by the American Phytopathological Society, USA.

Prof. (Dr.) K.R. Aneja, Renowned Microbiologist and Academic Leader

Prof. (Dr.) K.R. Aneja has 34 years of postgraduate teaching experience in the Microbiology and Botany Departments, including 11 years as Chairman of the Department of Microbiology at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He is a current member of the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur, and an Expert Member of the Project Expert Group at ICFRE, Dehradun. Dr. Aneja has served in various prestigious roles, such as the Governor's/Chancellor's Nominee for Teacher's Selection at Punjabi University Patiala, a member of the National Committee for the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS), President of the Mycological Society of India, Recorder of the Plant Sciences Section of ISCA, and member of the RPC at ICFRE.

Dr. Aneja has received several honors and awards, notably the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mycological Society of India and the INSA-Royal Society Academic Exchange Fellowship Award for postdoctoral work. He is an elected Fellow of five academic societies: IBS, IPS, IMS, MSI, and SBCA.

As a researcher, Dr. Aneja has managed six major research projects funded by national and international agencies, notably DFID, United Kingdom. He has guided 23 Ph.D. candidates and published 178 research papers, reviews, and book chapters in reputable international and national journals. He has authored or co-authored 11 books, edited three books, and written two manuals across various branches of microbiology, mycology, biochemistry, and biotechnology, with publications by international and national publishers. Recently, he was honored with the 2023 Unnat Bharat Sevashree Award (Shiksha Rattan).

Dr. Anu Sayal, Senior Lecturer, School of Accounting & Finance

Dr. Anu Sayal is a distinguished Senior Lecturer at the School of Accounting & Finance, Faculty of Business & Law, Taylor's University, Malaysia. With a robust academic background, Dr. Sayal holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from VMSB Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, India, and a Master of Science in Mathematics from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India.

Administratively, Dr. Sayal serves as the Academic Integrity Officer at Taylor's Business School, demonstrating her commitment to educational standards and ethics. Her professional affiliations include being a Life Member of the IAENG Society of Operations Research and the International Association of Engineers, reflecting her global academic engagement and leadership.

Dr. Sayal's scholarly contributions are profound, spanning various publications and presentations. She has authored significant works like "Blockchain for Healthcare 4.0: Technology, Challenges, and Applications" and "Introduction to Drone Data Analytics in Aerial Computing," published by esteemed publishers like CRC Press and Springer. Her research articles in esteemed journals such as the International Journal of Information Management Data Insights and the International Journal of Asian Business and Information Management have been well-received and indexed in SCOPUS.

Additionally, her innovations have led to several patents in advanced communication, AI-driven vehicle speed development, IoT-based weather monitoring, public transport mobility, and glucose sensing devices, underscoring her expertise in applied research and technological innovation.

Dr.Om Prakash Sati, A distinguished Academic Leader

Dr.O.P.Sati holds a Ph.D. from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, in the specialized study of sapogenins spirostanol glycosides oligospirostanosides and oligofurostanosides from Himalayan Medicinal plants, awarded in 1983. Earlier, he earned a Certificate in German and a Gold Medal from the same university in 1981, along with an M. Phil. in Chemistry with a Gold Medal in 1979. His academic journey began with an M. Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Lucknow University in 1972, following a B. Sc. from Agra University in 1970.

Dr.Sati has held several key administrative roles, including Controller of Examination for the Uttarakhand Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination and various positions at H. N. B. Garhwal University, Srinagar Garhwal, such as Member of the Executive Council, Dean of Students Welfare, and Finance Officer. His contributions extend to the national level as an Expert for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in New Delhi.

He is a recipient of the Teacher’s Fellowship by UGC, New Delhi, and holds a life membership of the Indian Chemical Society. His research has been supported by grants from CSIR, UGC, and DST, focusing on topics ranging from pharmacological screening to the study of high-altitude medicinal plants and natural dyes used by Garhwal tribes. Dr.Sati has supervised 25 Ph.D. candidates and authored 76 research papers published in international and national journals.
